North American Maple Shells

All Performance Series™ shells are built with DW’s patented HVX™ technique, which features 100% Maple plies with grains oriented in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns for low, punchy fundamentals.

Bearing Edge

HVX™ shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) edges. These edges provide tonality and sustain from your toms, and depth and punch from your bass and snare.

Combining the latest grain orientation technology and hand-selected North American Hard Rock Maple, Performance Series' proprietary HVX shells deliver a low, punchy fundamental, with ample resonance and projection that's perfectly suited for live applications. Performance Series 8" Toms feature a 7-ply HVX construction, while the Snares feature 10-ply HVX, and the 10"-16", along with all Bass Drums, feature 8-ply HVX construction.
